Our 18 member color guard is in need of a director for the winter guard season. There are two after school practices per week and we have already signed up for our season.
We have strong student leadership in our organization that just needs a little guidance and mentoring with running the season.

Lakewood Ranch High School
The Lakewood Ranch HS Color Guard Director supervises, instructs and inspires a color guard program that effectively complements and enhances the visual and musical program of the LRHS Mustang Marching Band. The LRHS Color Guard consistently earns Superior ratings at FBA Marching MPA, Solo and Ensemble at the district and state level, and is a highly rated unit in FMBC regional and state competition. They are the reigning 2018-19 gold-medal winning FFCC Class B State Champion, and were the silver medalists in 2017-18. Duties Include: evaluating members’ abilities, strengths and weaknesses, designing equipment work accordingly, working closely with the Director and staff to develop a competitive visual program, attending rehearsals and performances, instructing members in fundamental and advanced flag/weapon/dance techniques, and teaching members program material. They display a willingness to breathe life into the vision of the Director and Program Designer. The Color Guard Instructor coordinates the color guard rehearsal schedule with the full Marching Band; creates rehearsal plans in cooperation with Marching Band Director; ensures the highest possible level of performance from the color guard members thorough a proper warm-up process, effective preparation, and attention to individual members; recruits potential color guard members while retaining current members; ensures that the color guard is properly equipped for rehearsals and performances; maintains a cooperative working relationship with the Director of Bands, Band members, and Color Guard members; manages all equipment necessary for rehearsals and performances including maintenance, repair, and acquisition recommendations, participates in Winter Guard and Spring semester program planning as needed, and recommends new property purchases within the budget allocations. Requirements: – High School Diploma with successful experience as a color guard performer, designer and/or instructor for marching band, winter guard and/or drum corps. – Must be available for Band Camp. – Must attend rehearsals and performances and coordinate coverage of additional tech staff. – Will serve as an employee of the Manatee County School Board, receiving the county Director supplement and competitive salary supplement from our LRHS Band Boosters, as well as a fair-share fed salary for Winter Guard. – An Outstanding Personality and Impressive Work Ethic!
