FFCC Advisory Board Meeting Recap – May 18, 2025
Reflecting on Our 40th Anniversary Season
On Sunday, May 18, the newly appointed FFCC Advisory Board convened to reflect on the successes and challenges of our 40th anniversary season and to begin shaping the path forward. With representatives from Color Guard, Percussion/Winds, and Outdoor in attendance, this meeting provided an opportunity to share member insights, propose improvements, and build momentum for the upcoming 2025–2026 season.
Color Guard
The Color Guard Advisory Board worked through a wide range of proposals focused on competition structure and policy clarity. Members also reviewed all four judging captions—Equipment, Movement, Design Analysis, and General Effect—offering valuable feedback aimed at improving the quality and clarity of adjudication and commentary across the circuit.
Percussion/Winds
Discussion in the Percussion/Winds session centered on scheduling adjustments to provide teams greater exposure to national-level judging panels. Members also emphasized the need for a more comprehensive reclassification process and committed to expanding mentorship opportunities for emerging instructors within the circuit.
Outdoor
Outdoor conversations included championship planning, adjudication goals, and awards design. The group discussed options for maintaining a balanced and efficient prelims/finals format and emphasized strategic planning for long-term growth and event hosting.
This meeting served as an important step in evaluating where we’ve been and where we’re going—with the advisory board acting as a voice for the community and a guiding force for continued improvement.
