Solo & Duet Championships

The Solo & Duet Competition takes place on Saturday, March 25, 2023 in the Ballrooms of the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, FL. Our Solo & Duet Competition is open to all scholastic and independent colorguard performers, and offers competition in four solo categories (flag, rifle, sabre, and dance), and a duet category.

The competition is open to spectators free of charge.

The schedule is organized by competition room. There are many scholastic flag solos, so you may be in one of two rooms. All rooms are located on the east end of the Ocean Center (closest to the beach).

  • You may compete in both a solo and a duet.

  • Registration must be completed by March 13th at 11:59pm. If your registration does not include payment and your release form, you will not be scheduled for the competition.

On the day of the Solo & Duet Competition:

  • Check in before your performance time! You will need to check in at the check in table for your performance. Performances will alternate between divisions. Make sure you report to the announcer/sound table at the designated “READY TIME”. Performers who are late for their performance time will only be rescheduled at the discretion of the Contest Director. Check in will be located in front of Ballroom A.

  • Have your music ready! Performers will be able to do sound checks starting at approximately 30 minutes before the first performance in the performance venue. MP3 players should have a play-list with a single track. If you are playing music off of your phone, be sure you have it out of the case, have it on airplane mode, and have music downloaded to your phone on a single play-list- your notes app is a great way to store and play music. Do not play music off of the Internet (Pandora, Spotify, YouTube, etc.). We no longer use CDs at contests. Be sure to check that your phone won’t stop playing if it locks. Restarts due to music problems will be solely at the discretion of the Contest Director.

  • Don’t forget about the awards ceremony! This will take place shortly after the final solo performances in the Ballrooms. The top three competitors in each category will receive a medal.

  •  Invite your friends & family to watch! Spectators will be allowed into the performances free of charge. Attendance or participation in the Solo Competition does not grant entry to the Arena for the color guard or percussion Championships performances.
