The FFCC is devastated by the news of the unexpected passing of our friend and contest staff member, Mike Palau on Sunday, December 31st. Mike has been a fixture in the FFCC for well over twenty years and has impacted the lives of thousands of performers, spectators, directors, and staff.

Along with his wife, Chris Flynn-Palau, Mike instructed, designed, and supported many teams over the years, including Paradigm, Spruce Creek HS, Forest HS, Seabreeze HS, and many, many others. He was an avid judge in the marching arts, and a long time member of our contest staff. He pitched in wherever needed and often served as a Contest Director at our events, but more importantly, was a friendly face and reassuring presence for performers and directors across the FFCC.

Mike worked in physical therapy and rehabilitation in his daily life, and performed in many community and regional theater productions in the Daytona Beach and Flagler areas. He leaves behind his wife Chris and their daughter Kenzie, as well as many friends and family.

Please share your favorite memories of Mike on our social media, and donate to support the family if you are able during this difficult time at
