The Florida Federation of Colorguards Circuit held its annual Summer Board of Directors Planning Meeting on July 20-21, 2024, at the Celeste Hotel in Orlando, FL. This two-day meeting brought together board members both in-person and virtually to discuss key topics and make strategic decisions for the upcoming season.
The meeting began with a comprehensive financial overview, addressing the current financial status and discussing strategies to maintain fiscal health. Detailed plans for the upcoming championships were then outlined, covering everything from venue selection to logistical arrangements, ensuring the event runs smoothly. Staffing and budgeting were also key points, with discussions centered on optimizing resources and ensuring adequate support for all activities.
Awards and recognition were highlighted to ensure that outstanding contributions within the circuit are appropriately acknowledged. Event logistics and venue selection were meticulously planned to guarantee successful and well-organized events throughout the current and future seasons. Highlights from the advisory board were shared, offering insights and recommendations for future initiatives.
Education and outreach initiatives were discussed with an aim to continue expanding the circuit’s reach and enhance member engagement through various educational programs. A discussion of moving the annual L.E.A.P.S Education day to the summer was approved per the advisory board recommendation.
The importance of technology and communication was emphasized, with plans to improve the circuit’s digital presence and ensure effective communication among members. The winterguard event schedule and selection of show hosts were reviewed and next steps in acquiring these sites are now underway in order to provide a structured and efficient calendar for the season.
The Reclassification Committee and its process for the winter season was also discussed at length to create more transparency and allow education support for teams moved into higher divisions. More information will be shared with the circuit in order to understand the process and what is expected for teams under the review process and opportunities to help with next steps in their reclassification.
A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to discussing outdoor events for the upcoming season and championships. Class registration numbers were analyzed, and per-show entries were discussed to ensure balanced and competitive events. The board also focused on the logistical aspects of outdoor events, including adjudication, awards, staffing, and championship logistics. The long-term planning session also included a review of the five-year plan, focusing on financial viability and setting strategic goals to guide the FFCC’s future direction.
